RADFORD, Va. Despite a strong first half, the Southern Virginia Women's Basketball team could not keep up with NCAA D.I foe Radford, and lost 76-32. The Knights had a solid effort put in by Cara Joyner, who led the team with 10-points. SVU led at different points in the first half, and trailed by only six as the two teams headed into the break.

"The first half for us was very positive," said Head Coach Mike Harmon. "If we can play like that every game we will be in a great spot by the end of the season. It looked like we played not to lose in the second half. We played tentative and we paid for it. We can't do that against a D.I team."

Turnovers were an Achilles heal for the Knights as they surrendered the ball 37 times. SVU was strong again on the boards as they pulled down 27, with Kezia Ford leading the team with 6. Ford also had a strong display leading the Knights in assists with six as well. Kara Hiatt and Amanda Prestwich combined for 9 and 8-points respectively, and set up a first half in which the Knights held a 19-15 lead before the Highlanders regrouped and took a lead they would never surrender.

SVU was able to score only 12-points in the second half, as the hosts pulled away for the easy victory. SVU shot 37% from the field, and 37% from three-point range. The Knights made few trips to the free-throw line and made only seven of their thirteen attempts going for 53% from the line.

SVU now is 4-4 on the season. The Knights return to action Dec. 8 when they travel for a rematch with Virginia Intermont. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 tip-off.
