BUENA VISTA, Va. – Despite outshooting visiting
Christendom College 12-8, the Southern Virginia University men's
soccer team fell to the Crusaders in overtime on Monday, ending its
winning steak at three games.
Monday's match between Southern Virginia and Christendom
remained scoreless throughout regulation, as neither team was able
to take control of the extremely physical and hotly contested
competition.
Sophomore Brandon
Seeberger nearly won the game for the Knights five minutes into
overtime when he broke away from his defender and fired a sliding
shot towards the Crusaders' goal which missed just wide left.
Shortly after Seeberger's near goal, Christendom found the
back of the net on a counterattack, finally breaking the 0-0 tie
and ending the match in the 103rd minute of play.
Southern Virginia men's soccer looks to return to its winning
ways on Wednesday, Oct. 6, when it hosts rival Washington and Lee
University at The Fields. The match is scheduled to begin at 4
p.m.
