DANVILLE, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team suffered its fourth shutout in its last six games on Monday falling at NCAA Division III Averett University 5-0.
After going up 2-0 in the opening half, Averett (3-1) junior Annika Rindestedt scored a pair of goals during a three minute stretch early in the second half to put the match out of reach for Southern Virginia (2-4).
The Cougars, who added their fifth goal in the 67th minute of play, outshot Southern Virginia 28-12 for the match, while firing twice as many shots on goal than the Knights (14-7).
Women's soccer returns home on Friday, Sept. 23 to host NCAA Division III Marymount University at 5 p.m.
