BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team ended its season on Wednesday with a 0-0 double overtime tie against Bluefield College as the Knights hosted the Rams for a cancer awareness match in support of "Team Blackham."

"It was a good fight for the full 110 minutes," said Head Coach Matt Grawrock, who finished his sixth season on Wednesday only five games shy of becoming the program's all-time winningest coach. "I'm proud of how we fought to the end and did our best to finish the season on a positive note."

Southern Virginia (8-8-1) and Bluefield (9-8-1) finished with 10 and 12 shots respectively, but neither team could find the back of the net through 90 minutes of regulation, as well as two 10-minute overtime periods.

Sophomore Makenzie Lundquist (Alpine, Utah) spent 103:12 in goal for the Knights recording a season-high 7 saves, while finishing the season at 6-5-1. Autumn Bronson (Stanton, Calif.) entered as Southern Virginia's keeper for the final 6:48 of the match after Lundquist collided with a teammate early in the second overtime and the freshman came through with a huge save during the final two minutes of the match to preserve the hard-fought tie.

Bluefield's keeper Kayla Richardson finished with 6 saves and moved to 8-5-1.

"We had a successful season and we prepared ourselves for conference play next season in the Capital Athletic Conference," said Grawrock. "It was especially meaningful today to play for a good cause."

Southern Virginia wore special jerseys on Wednesday with "Team Blackham" printed on the back in support of Chad Blackham, father of Alicia Blackham and Meghan Blackham, who has been fighting colon cancer for nearly three years.
