BUENA VISTA, Va.—Just over one month after collecting a 81-54 victory at Virginia University of Lynchburg , the Southern Virginia University men's basketball team opened up its spring semester schedule on Friday with a nearly identical 82-54 win over the Dragons.

"We were really excited to start playing again after nearly three weeks off for Christmas break," said first-year Head Coach Tony Caputo. "It shows a lot of consistency to play the same team a month apart and wind up with such a similar result."

Senior shooting guard Casey Nye (Kaysville, Utah) led Southern Virginia (7-3) against Virginia-Lynchburg (9-14) with 25 points on an efficient 10-for-13 shooting night. Nye was honored prior to the start of Friday's game for becoming only the third player in Southern Virginia basketball history to cross the 1,000-point mark and now ranks third on the Knights' all-time scoring list with 1,066 career points.

Two of Southern Virginia's three Jacobson brothers also reached double figures as senior point guard Isaac Jacobson (Kittyhawk, N.C.) recorded 13 points and a game-high 6 assists, while junior guard Anders Jacobson (Kittyhawk, N.C.) added 11 points in the victory.

Friday's rematch between Southern Virginia and Virginia-Lynchburg was tight early on, but the Knights pulled away during the final 12 minutes of the first half opening up a 41-23 lead by intermission. The Knights continued to pull away throughout the second period outscoring the Dragons by ten (41-31) over the final 20 minutes of play en route to the 28-point victory.

With Friday's runaway win, Southern Virginia extended its current home winning streak to 22 games, while shooting 53.1 percent (34-for-64) from the floor and holding the Dragons to 43.1 percent (22-for-51) shooting.

Men's basketball will go for another home win tomorrow at 2 p.m. when Southern Virginia hosts Berkeley College of New Jersey (8-7) in the Knights Sports Arena.
