LEXINGTON, Va.—Hoping to bounce back from a recent loss to Radford, the Southern Virginia University women's soccer team fell to host Washington & Lee by a 2-0 score Tuesday night at Watt Field in Lexington, Va.

The Knights (1-4) registered five shot attempts during the game, including two on goal, but could not put the ball in the net despite a few close tries. Washington & Lee improves to 5-1 on the year following the victory.

"I think we're getting better as a team and I see that we're improving in several areas," said Southern Virginia Director of Soccer Matt Grawrock."The effort is there, but we're not doing the things that we practice. Our communication can improve and we simply need to go out and execute what we know we're supposed to do."

Five different Knights registered shot attempts, including a shot on goal by Bryndel Lytle and another by Alina Grawrock, but the Generals managed to take 22 shots with 12 on goal to sneak two goals in and come away with the victory. Washington & Lee also had eight corner kick opportunities.

Junior MaKenzie Cox earned 10 saves during the game as she played the complete 90 minutes in the box.

The Generals struck early in the match with defender Lauren Abraham scoring a goal at the 3:11 mark  with K.J. Lancaster adding another goal midway through the second half.

The Knights next compete Friday night at Bluefield in Bluefield, Va., with a scheduled start time of 7 p.m.
