Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va.—Senior Laura Schow's first goal of the season kicked off the scoring spree for the Southern Virginia University women's soccer team as the Knights defeated Christendom College, 4-0, Friday night at The Fields in Buena Vista, Va.
After three Southern Virginia shot attempts, Schow received a pass from Mckenzie Cottle to net her first goal of the season. Christendom goalkeeper Madeline Hill picked up four saves before the Knights' Jamilla Gambee put a shot into the lower right corner assisted by Tatiana Monsen for a 2-0 lead over the Crusaders.
The Knights had six more unsuccessful shots on goal to end the half up 2-0 over the crusaders.
The Knights were aggressive on offense as they had seven more shot attempts on Hill early in the second half. Monsen, assisted by Savanna Patillo, was able to net her 12th goal of the season for a 3-0 Knight lead. Five minutes later, Cammi Miller teamed up with Zoe Bradshaw for her first goal of the season for the final 4-0 score.
The Knight defense gave goalie MaKenzie Cox the night off as they denied the Crusaders zero shot attempts. Christendom's keeper Hill picked up 16 saves. The Knights had 32 shot attempts and 20 shots on goal.
The Knights will stay home to host Penn State Harrisburg for their second conference matchup of the season. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at The Fields of Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista, Virginia.
