LEXINGTON, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team fell at the Washington and Lee Tournament to the host Generals in three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-23, Saturday morning on the final day of competition at Doremus Gym in Lexington, Virginia.

As a team, Southern Virginia recorded more kills, assists and digs than Washington and Lee, but its 25 errors to the Generals' 15 proved to be the difference maker in each set.

The first set saw the Knights in control for most of the contest before Washington and Lee rallied off four straight points to take a 21-18 lead. Southern Virginia responded with three straight points of its own to tie the game at 21, but another four-point run by the Generals secured the set victory.

The two squads swapped point for point in sets two and three, but the home team took control at the end of each set and eventually earned both victories to conclude the match.

Senior Kaitlyn Eaton and freshman Calyn Barry led all Southern Virginia players with 11 kills each, while Valerie Arkansas and Katelynn Tlustek split time at the setter position, earning 20 and 19 assists, respectively. April Bennett again showed her defensive prowess by leading the Knights with 11 digs, while Shannon Romito pitched in eight kills of her own.

Mary Silliman led the Generals with 10 kills to go along with eight digs.

With the loss, Southern Virginia falls to 3-4 on the year, while Washington and Lee improves to 6-1.

Volleyball will play its fourth and final match of the tournament at 3:30 p.m. against Roanoke College at W&L's Doremus Gym.
