BUENA VISTA, Va.—With the help of Tatiana Monsen the Knights were able to win their first conference game of the year and end the home season on a positive note with a 4-1 win over Marymount University.
Monsen, who had 17 goals last year and holds the single-season scoring record, has struggled to score this year but was able to net her second and third goals of the season.
The first goal was scored in the seventh minute when Monsen connected on a penalty kick. Four minutes later Jackie Barlow scored a deflected ball from the keeper that came from a hard shot by Monsen.
The Knights (4-12, 1-6 CAC) netted a thrid goal in the first half when Emily McFadyen scored from a Monsen assist to take a 3-0 lead. A last-second goal above goalkeeper Savannah Uri gave Marymount (4-11, 0-7 CAC) their only goal of the match.
Midway through the second half Monsen scored her second goal of the game from a Jamilla Gambee pass to seal the game 4-1.
Seniors Alicia Blackham, Zoe Bradshaw and Jackie Barlow were honored in their final career home game.
The Knights will hit the road for their final two games of the season on October 24 and 27.
