BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia men's soccer team went scoreless against the Christopher Newport Captains 3-0 Tuesday night in a conference matchup at The Fields.
The Captains (9-0-3, 2-0-1 CAC) had their first goal, from a header, 30 minutes into the first half. The Knights (1-10, 0-2 CAC) were then able to match Christopher Newport and enter the intermission down 1-0.
In the 56th minute, the Captains scored again, in a shot off of the left post, putting the score 2-0. Despite Southern Virginia's defensive efforts the Captains score again in the 66th minute in the final goal of the match.
Southern Virginia's offensive struggled resulted in only five shots compared to Christopher Newport's 28. Goalkeeper Keenan Carroll, who leads the CAC in saves, recorded seven saves throughout the game.
Junior Wil Guymon had the Knights' only shot on goal.
The Knights face Wesley College in the Homecoming game at the fields on Friday, October 10. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
