Men's Soccer Falls in Thriller to Washington and Lee

BUENA VISTA, Va. ̶ The Southern Virginia men's soccer team came up short Wednesday night against Washington and Lee University in their first home game of the season. 

The Generals (2-1-1) found the back of the net first in the sixteenth minute when David Cohen found his way past the Knight defense off a pass from Patrick Barry. 

In the seventy-sixth minute of an action-packed second half the Knights (0-4) received a free kick. Forward Josh Smith took the kick and placed a perfect ball inside the eighteen yardline for Gabriel Ramirez tosend the ball to the back of the net and tie the game 1-1. 

After many opportunities for both teams, the Generals found the back of the net again in the eightieth and eighty-ninth minute to finish the game with a 3-1 win. 

The Knights had 11 shots on the night and Keenan Carroll finished the game with an impressive seven saves in goal.

The Knights return to the Fields this Saturday, September 12 to play Widener University. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
