Knights Score 71, Fall to Captains

BUENA VISTA, Va.—Despite scoring 71 points, five more than the season average, the Southern Virginia women's basketball team was unable to pick up the win at home against Christopher Newport. The Captains routed the Knights 109-71 in conference play.

The Knights (3-13, 2-8 CAC) shot a season-best 58% from the field on Wednesday compared to the Captains' 47%.

Freshman forward Autumn Cramer led all scorers with a season-high 17 points on 6-7 shooting and had four assists. Junior forward Morgan Hartvigsen chipped in 16 points and recorded four steals. Freshman guard Merideth Ouellette added 12 points and six rebounds.

Southern Virignia heads to St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday and returns home to face Wesley College on Monday at 3 p.m.
