NEWPORT NEWS, Va.-After holding 19th-ranked Christopher Newport scoreless in the first half, the Southern Virginia women's soccer team ended the night falling to the Captains 8-0.

Ranked 19th in Division III by the NSCAA, the Captain's (9-1, 3-0 CAC) offense was stifled in the first half by the Knight's (3-7, 0-3 CAC) defense, led by GK Rachel Miller, who made several highlight-worthy saves. Miller finished the game with 16 saves, 12 in the first period.

The Captains scored eight goals in the second period, the first coming in the 53rd minute.

Kora Jewell, Anne Powell, Keirra Tanuvasa, and Tatiana Monsen each took a shot on goal for the Knights.

Southern Virginia will look to bounce back this Saturday as they travel to Dover, Del. to take on Wesley College.
