BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia men's soccer team fell 3-0 to Christopher Newport University in Capital Athletic Conference play.
The Captains (10-2, 3-0 CAC) scored a penalty kick in the second minute of the game to take an early lead over the Knights (2-9, 0-3 CAC). Christopher Newport found the back of the net two more times to take a 3-0 lead at halftime.
No goals were scored in the second half for either team as the Knights held the Captains to eight shots compared to 17 in the first. The Knights had three total shots. Marrott Weekes had two and Gabe Ramirez had one shot on goal.
Spencer Young and Keenan Carroll spent time in goal for Southern Virginia and each recorded four saves.
The Knights play Wesley College on Saturday, October 8 at 5 p.m. in Dover, Delaware.
