BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia men's soccer team hosted Methodist University on Saturday, falling 3-0 in the battle.
The Monarchs (1-3-1) won their first match of the season after scoring in the ninth minute of the game and once again in the last minute of the first half. Methodist increased their lead to three in the 61st minute.
The Knights were outshot 11-6 and despite shots on goal by Gabriel Ramirez and Anthony Bowden, Southern Virginia (2-4) was unable to find the back of the net.
Spencer Young played the second half in goal for the Knights and recorded two saves.
The Knights travel to Roanoke College on Wednesday, September 21 in their final non-conference game of the season. Capital Athletic Conference play begins on Saturday, September 24 with Southern Virginia playing at Salisbury University.
