Women's Volleyball Drops Two in Tri-Match

BRIDGEWATER, Va.—The Southern Virginia women's volleyball team lost 3-1 to Emory and Henry College and 3-0 to Bridgewater College on Saturday.

Emory and Henry (9-7) won sets one and two 25-16 and 25-15. The Knights (2-9) rallied in set three and pulled off a 25-19 win. The Wasps won set four 25-19 to beat the Knights.

The Knight's attack was led by Penny Gwynn, who had an impressive game high of 16 kills and Hannah Allred right behind her with 15.On defense, Hannah Allred had three blocks and Emma Evans recorded a pair. Hannah Hosier had 16 digs and Allred had 13.

In match two, against Bridgewater (13-3), the Knights fell 25-12 in the first set. In sets two and three Southern Virginia lost well fought games  25-21 and 26-24.The Eagles had 42 kills compared to the Knights 39. Gwynn had 17 kills, Allred had eight, and Allison Tiegs had seven. Allred had 18 digs and Gwynn added 16.

Southern Virginia hosts Eastern Mennonite University on Tuesday, September 27 at 7 p.m. in their last game before conference play.
