BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia men's soccer team lost 4-1 to Washington and Lee University, who was predicted to finish first in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
The Knights (1-2-0) found the back of the net first in the 12th minute after Tyler McElwee beat a defender and hit a long shot just outside of the eighteen.
Two minutes later, the Generals (2-1-0) scored their first goal of the game and added two more to lead 3-1 going into halftime.
The second half resulted in one more Washington and Lee goal to secure their win. The Generals outshot the Knights 30-6 and had nine corner kicks.
Southern Virginia travels to Widener University on Saturday, September 10 for their next game of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
