No. 25 Captains Take Down Knights, 5-0

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team took on 25th-ranked Christopher Newport University on Wednesday night, losing 5-0.

The Captains (10-1, 3-0) hit the ground running in front of their home crowd, scoring four of their five goals in the first 34-minutes of play. The Knights (4-8, 0-3) had two shots in the first half, coming from Jamilla Anderson and Cydne Baker but failed to score.

In the second half, the Knights had their lone shot on goal by Shayli Nakamoto. The Captains recorded one more goal to give Gabby Gillis the hat-trick and the 5-0 victory.

Haley Eiser will be credited with the win at goalie, while Rachel Miller, after collecting 10 saves will register the loss.

For the game, the Captains outshot the Knights 38-3, shots on goal 15-1 and corners 10 to the Knights 0.

The Knights play next at Penn St.-Harrisburg Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2:00 p.m.
