BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team finished their season with an 18-2 victory over Hollins University. Seventeen different Knights combined for 18 goals with nine assists.
Miklain Hardy scored the Knights' first goal just eighteen seconds into the game off an assist from Lauren Thatcher. The Knights then rattled off nine more unanswered goals before Hollins was able to score one of their own. After a goal from Jesse Case, the Knights went into halftime up 11-2.
In the second half, the Knights denied Hollins any openings as a coordinated strike from the Knights' offense threw in another seven goals to end the game 18-2.
Southern Virginia won 18 of the 22 draws and outshot Hollins 38-5. Jessica Jaster earned her first season win in goal during the first half, and later scored in the second.
Miklain Hardy was the Knights' leading scorer with two goals and one assist. Lauren Thatcher and Megan Barfuss were essential to the Knights efforts on offense, dishing seven assists between the two of them.
Senior Ashley Lessing was honored before the game and was able to score her 20th career goal.
