Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va. — Southern Virginia (2-9) was defeated by Christopher Newport (5-1-3) in their second CAC matchup of the season 2-0.
The Knights struggled with penalties after totaling three yellow cards on the night that impacted the match.
In the 35th minute of the match, Lincoln Kickbush was able to get past goalkeeper Jacob Solis and CNU on the board for an early 1-0 lead.
Minutes later, Zach Martin received the first yellow card for Southern Virginia in the 40th minute.
In the second half, CNU continued their barrage of shots leading to Kickbush finding the back of the net in the 61st minute for his second goal of the game.
Southern Virginia attempted a comeback but were unable to get past the Captain's defense eventually falling 2-0.
Southern Virginia shot attempts came from Anthony Bowden, Zach Martin and Peysen Webster.
Jacob Solis kept the Knights in contention having nine saves on the night.
The Knights hit the road this weekend as they travel to take on York at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.
