Women's Soccer Suffers Difficult Road Loss to Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team dropped an 8-0 decision to the University of Mary Washington at Battleground Turf Stadium.

In the first half, the Eagles (5-8, 2-3) scored 34 seconds into play on a Malorie Joseph goal. Three more Mary Washington players found the back of the net in the half to take a sizeable 4-0 first-half lead.

The Knights (3-10-1, 1-4) only offensive opportunity of the game came in the opening half when Tori Wescott landed a shot on goal that was saved by the Eagles' Allison York.

The Eagles extended their lead in the second half, adding four more goals making the final score 8-0.

Alyssa Trueman tied her career-high six saves at goal for the Knights.

Southern Virginia returns home for a CAC two-game homestand Saturday, Oct. 19, with the start time slated for 5 p.m.
