Women's Soccer Blanked by No. 3 Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team suffered a 10-0 loss to No. 3 Christopher Newport Wednesday night.

In the first half, the Knights (2-8-1, 0-2) faced strong offensive attacks from the Captains (9-0-2, 2-0) that resulted in four goals and a lead at the half.

The Knights were limited on offense as they managed only to attempt a pair of shots and secure a lone corner kick in the first half of play.

The Captains extended their lead in the second half as they an additional six more goals to give them the 10-0 victory and remain undefeated in Capital Athletic Conference play.

Southern Virginia landed two shots on goal from Laurel Storheim and Holly Cunha, but goalkeeper Haley Eiser of the Captains recorded the save on each attempt.

Senior Savannah Uri was at goal for the Knights where she set a career-high 14 saves in the loss.

Southern Virginia continues its short two-game road trip Saturday in a CAC matchup against York (Pa.) starting at noon.
