Women's Basketball Extend Win Streak to Six with 69-49 Win Over Greensboro

BUENA VISTA, Va. — Southern Virginia's women's basketball team extended their winning streak to six with a win over Greensboro College by the score of 69-49 Saturday afternoon. 

Savanna Christensen shined with a game-high 18 points. Christensen also finished with a game-high seven rebounds as well as six assists. Katie Garrish finished closely behind Christensen and led the bench with 14 points.  Garrish finished with six rebounds, one of which was offensive. Anna Singer tied her career-high 11 points on the afternoon, hitting three 3-point shots. Singer finished with five assists. 

The Knights (7-1) outrebounded the Pride (3-3) 44-37. Southern Virginia's bench shined in the win, outscoring Greensboro's bench 25-8. 

The Knights started the game out in a dominant fashion and would not look back the remainder of the match. By the end of the first quarter, Southern Virginia established a 21-7 lead led by Christensen's five points and an impressive 52.9 shooting percentage from the floor.

Southern Virginia went into halftime with a 34-17 lead over Greensboro shooting 37.5 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from the three-point range for the half. 

Courtney McKrola started the scoring in the second half and continued the momentum for the Knights. The Pride had their best quarter of the game in the third, outscoring Southern Virginia 23-13. Greensboro tied the Knights in rebounds 10-10, cutting their deficit to seven points. 

Southern Virginia recollected themselves in the fourth quarter, denying any hope of a comeback for Greensboro. The Knights outscored the Pride 22-9 in the fourth quarter, led by Garrish's seven points. 

Southern Virginia dominated the boards in the fourth quarter 7-3 to help control the time of possession. 

The Knights won their sixth straight game and look to increase their win streak to seven on Tuesday, Dec. 10, taking on Emory and Henry in Knight Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
