Men's Soccer Suffers Loss to Hampden-Sydney

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University (1-5) men's soccer team fell to Hampden-Sydney College (2-5) by a score of 4-1 Saturday afternoon. 

The first half of the match showcased the Tigers being outshooting the Knights 10-1 while goalkeeper Jacob Solis made four saves to keep the score 2-0. 

The second half featured Kanon Heaton scoring his first goal of the season coming off a penalty shot that cut the Tigers lead to 4-1 in the 75th minute of the game.  

The Knights were outshot 16-4, shots on goal 9-1 and corner kicks 11-2. Heaton and forward Sam Melo led Southern Virginia with two shots each. 

Southern Virginia was unable to make a comeback as they fall to the Tigers and look to their next game. 

The Knights travel to Staunton, Virginia on the 18th of September to take on Mary Baldwin University at 4 pm.
