Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team fell in double overtime 1-0 to Eastern Mennonite Wednesday night at Knight Stadium.
In the first half, the Knights (2-6-1) were outshot by the Royals (6-1) 4-2 with both teams holding the other scoreless.
The second half of play offered more scoring opportunities for both teams, but neither capitalize, sending the game into overtime 0-0.
The Royals outshot the Knights 3-1 in the first overtime, but the Southern Virginia defense continued their solid play extending the game into a second overtime.
In the second overtime, EMU's Chloe Weaver scored with just over three minutes remaining to hand the Knights the 1-0 loss.
The Royals outshot Knights 15-9 and had the upper hand with shots on goal 7-4.
Leading Southern Virginia on offense was Tori Wescott with a pair of shots on goal while Sydney Kuhni recorded the most shot attempts with three.
Alyssa Trueman was at goal for the Knights where she registered a career-high six saves.
Southern Virginia will start Capital Athletic Conference play Saturday, Sept. 28 as they host Salisbury beginning at 2 p.m.
