Women's Soccer Dealt Loss in Home-Opener by Falcons

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia women's soccer team played its home-opener on Thursday afternoon, falling to 2-0 to Pfeiffer University.

The Falcons (2-1) opened up the scoring in the 6th minute, after which the teams played a back-and-forth game until halftime. Pfeiffer managed to score again at the start of the second period, giving themselves a 2-0 advantage.

The Knights (1-2) attempted nine shots, but only two were on frame and none of them found the back of the net.

Freshman Laurel Storheim led the squad in shots with three, while a handful of Knights had one apiece.

Savannah Uri and Alyssa Trueman split time in goal with Uri finishing with two saves and Trueman picking up four.

The Knights will play again at home on Saturday as they take on Greensboro College. The game is scheduled for 5:00 pm at Knight Stadium.
