DANVILLE, VA. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team took on Averett University in a USA South Conference matchup. The Knights came away with the 2-1 overtime thriller victory improving to 8-4-2 on the year. 

Game Notes

• The Cougars opened up the scoring, using a goal from Celia de Diego, assisted from Thania Hernandez, to go up 1-0 in the ninth minute
• After halftime, Makya Lindgren scored her eighth goal of the season off an assist from Maybel Harris and Sydney Liles
• Heading into overtime, Maybel Harris scored the golden goal with an assist from Makya Lindgren to secure the overtime victory for the Knights

Southern Virginia returns home to Knight Stadium Friday, October 15, to take on Methodist in another USA South Conference showdown. Game time is scheduled for 5 pm.
