BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University football team took on Greensboro College in Knight Stadium Saturday afternoon for the squad's homecoming game, with the Knights defeating the Pride 31-14.

• Davis Pinkston: 13-21 passing, 1 touchdown
• Jacob Wood: 75 rushing yards, 5.4 yards per carry, 1 touchdown
• Chase Wester: 74 reception yards, 10.6 yards per reception, 1 touchdown
• Alex Sewell: 8 total tackles (4 solo, 4 assisted, 1 tackle for loss)
• Jason Siaosi: 7 total tackles (4 solo, 3 assisted, 3.5 tackles for loss), 1.5 sacks

Game Notes

• On the first play of the game, Jason Siaosi strip-sacked the quarterback, forcing the fumble with Tyler Wester recovering the fumble on the Pride's own 29-yard line
• Four plays later, Pinkston handed the ball off to Jacob Wood, who rushed ten yards to put the Knights on the board 7-0
• Beginning the second quarter, Southern Virginia drove the ball to Greensboro's 25, setting up Derek Bass for the 42-yard field goal attempt
• Bass converted the field goal, putting the Knights up 10-0 with 12 minutes remaining in the half
• Both defenses held their own, not allowing any points to be scored the remainder of the quarter, sending the Knights into the halftime break with the 10-0 advantage
• On Southern Virginia's opening drive in the third quarter, Cade Nelson received the handoff from Pinkston, rushing into the endzone for the 11-yard touchdown rush
• Greensboro managed to score their first touchdown with Cale Matthews tossing a pass to quarterback David Loughry II for the three-yard touchdown to come within ten 17-7
• On the ensuing possession for the Knights, Davis Pinkston spotted an open Chase Wester for the 31-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 17 points 24-7 with 13:37 remaining in the fourth
• With five minutes remaining in the game, Tyler Wester picked off Greensboro, taking it to the house for the 12-yard interception touchdown to put the Knights up 31-7
• The Pride managed to squeeze one final touchdown in, recovering a fumble by Southern Virginia's offense and scoring the 14-yard touchdown making the final score 31-14

The Knights hit the road to take on Brevard Saturday, October 23. Game time is slated for 1 pm.
