Box Score 2 MISENHEIMER, NC. — The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team wrapped up their regular season Saturday afternoon, sweeping Salem and defeating Pfeiffer in five sets 3-2.

Game One:
- The Knights jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the first set led by five Courtney Pinkston kills
- Southern Virginia closed out the first set, taking the 1-0 lead, outscoring Salem 11-10
- Set two showcased the Knights' abilities, holding Salem to only 11 total points
- Jilane Pedersen anchored the defense, recording three blocks in the second set
- Brenna Clyde led the team to a comfortable 18-7 lead in the third set of the match, tallying 4 kills
- Both teams went back and forth the remainder of the set, securing the 3-0 sweep over the Spirits
Game Two:
- Southern Virginia started out their second game, taking a 9-6 lead over the Falcons, led by two kills from Courtney Pinkston and Jilane Pedersen
- Pfeiffer responded, taking the 13-12 lead midway through the set before the Knights retaking the lead 21-17 off of two Mallory Rath service aces
- Jilane Pedersen wrapped up the first set with a final kill off of an Elle Warnick assist to take the 1-0 lead
- Midway through the second set, Southern Virginia found themselves down 14-11
- Brenna Clyde and Jilane Pedersen used a block to spark a 7-3 scoring run to take the 18-17 lead
- Southern Virginia used another 7-3 scoring run to take the 2-0 lead in the match, again using a Jilane Pedersen kill set up by Elle Warnick for the final point
- Pfeiffer flipped the script in the match, winning sets three and four to force a fifth set
- Four different Knights recorded kills at the start of the fifth set to put the team up 4-2
- Southern Virginia jumped to an 11-6 lead, capitalizing on the Falcon's attacking errors
- Following a three-point run by Pfeiffer, the Knights closed out the match, outscoring the Falcons 4-2 to lock in the 3-2 victory
Southern Virginia clinched the No.1 seed in the USA South Conference and will host the winner of Averett and Pfeiffer Tuesday, November 2, in Knight Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
