Box Score BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University football team opened conference play Saturday afternoon, facing off against LaGrange College in Knight Stadium, falling to the Panthers 38-34.

First Quarter:
- The Knights began the game with a strong performance, scoring on their opening drive of the game
- Cade Nelson got Southern Virginia on the board first, scoring the four-yard touchdown run
- Knight defense holds strong, forcing two consecutive punts

- Southern Virginia did not need much time, scoring in under two minutes after Pinkston spotted an open Kyle Bobblett for the 22-yard touchdown, but the extra point was no good
- LaGrange managed to score another touchdown just two minutes later, going ahead one point 28-27
- After an impressive catch by Skylar Johnson that brought the team to the one-yard line, Pinkston rushed for the one-yard touchdown, putting the Knights up 34-28
Fourth Quarter:
- The Knights struggled with turnovers and finding the back of the endzone in the final quarter
- LaGrange used a touchdown and a field goal to go ahead 38-34, and their defense held strong, locking in the victory for the Panthers
Southern Virginia travels to Methodist on Saturday, September 25, to continue conference play. Game time is scheduled for 1 pm.
