Box Score LYNCHBURG, VA. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team earned their third win of the season, defeating Randolph College 4-3 Wednesday night.
Game Notes
- In the seventh minute of the game, Makya Lindgren scored her fourth goal of the season, putting the team up 1-0 early
- After halftime, Sara Bane evened the game at one, scoring an unassisted goal
- 52 minutes into the game, Makinna Winterton put the team back up by one, chipping a shot into the back of the net
- Makya Lindgren again scored, extending the team's lead to two 3-1 off an unassisted goal
- Randolph stumbled upon some luck, securing a point off a Southern Virginia own goal, cutting the lead to one 3-2
- Bane scored her second goal of the game in the 74th minute, tying the game at three
- In the final minute of play, Kassaundra Gorton was in the right place at the right time, snagging the ball away from Randolph's goalie and scoring the game-winning goal for the Knights, securing the 4-3 victory
Southern Virginia travels to NC Wesleyan Saturday, September 25, to continue USA South Conference play. Game time is scheduled for 1 pm.
