BREVARD, NC. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team opened USA South Athletic Conference play Tuesday night, picking up their first win of the year, downing Brevard College 2-0.

• Alyssa Trueman opens the match with two big saves at the seventh and 19th minute
• Rebeccah Rojas answers Trueman with a save of her own in the 22nd minute
• After subbing in, Teya Tagatauli finds an open Makya Lindgren, who puts the Knights up 1-0 in the 26th minute
• Southern Virginia's defense holds strong, keeping Brevard scoreless through the first half
• Makinna Winterton scored her second goal of the season, putting the Knights up 2-0 off of a Makya Lindgren assist
• Abby Bloxham matches Trueman's saves, tallying two back-to-back saves in the 64th minute, keeping the Tornados scoreless

Southern Virginia continues their long game week, traveling to Maryville, Tennesse, to compete in the Maryville College tournament. Game one is scheduled for Friday, September 10th, with game time slated for 5 pm.
