CARY, NC. — The Southern Virginia University Women's Soccer team traveled to William Peace University to take on the Pacers in a USA South Conference matchup Saturday night. The Pacers used an early goal and strong defensive efforts the remainder of the game to capture the 1-0 victory.
How It Happened:
Both offensive units did not waste any time trying to get on the board quickly with four shots in the first 15 minutes. At the 15:37 mark, Rachel Alford got separation from her defender and firing a shot past the Knights' goaltender, putting the team up 1-0.
Morgan Romney got a quality shot off in the 31
st minute, but Abigail Mosteller was there to make her second save of the half, keeping Southern Virginia out of the scoring category.
Mosteller stayed hot in the second half, recording three more saves to keep the Pacer's lead. Although creating multiple scoring opportunities, the Knights were unable to get on the board after 90 minutes and were handed their first loss in six games.
