BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's rugby team competed in their first 7's tournament of their Spring Campaign, impressing with solid wins on the day.
Tournament Notes
- The Knights opened the tournament with a win against St. Mary's 2 team, dominating the game with a 29-7 victory
- Southern Virginia took on Loyola of Maryland in their second game, going up 26-0 in the first half
- The Knights defeated the Greyhounds in their second match 41-7
- In their third match of the day, Southern Virginia squared off against Virginia Tech
- Both teams were evenly matched with both teams knotted at 12 at the half
- Each team went on to score five more points, with the final score ending 17-17 for the tie
- Southern Virginia faced off against Virginia Tech in their final game of the tournament
- The Knights went ahead early in the match, scoring ten points before the halftime break
- Two more tris and a penalty kick locked in the 29-0 win for Southern Virginia
The Knights continue their season on Saturday, February 26, traveling to College Park, Maryland, for their second 7's tournament of the season.
