BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University Football schedule has been set for the 2022 season, with the Knights looking to make a strong push towards a USA South Conference title in their second year in the league.
 
The 2022 season begins at home on September 1 in Knight Stadium, with Southern Virginia taking on Wilmington (Ohio) for the second time in program history. The game will feature a rematch from last year, where the Knights came away with the 41-34 overtime victory. In the game, quarterback Davis Pinkston recorded a program record 355 yards, throwing for three touchdowns. 
 
Hitting the road for a two week hiatus, Southern Virginia will look to find their first wins against Bridgewater College and Randolph-Macon the following weeks on September 10th, and the 17th. The Eagles hold the 3-0 record over the Knights, with their first matchup coming back in 2010, while their latest matchup came in 2021, where Bridgewater won 35-17. Southern Virginia will then look to avenge their 2019 loss against the Yellow Jackets, where the Knights fell 47-27.
 
The Knights return home on November 6, with North Carolina Wesleyan coming into Knight Stadium for the team's conference opener. With the series tied between the two team 1-1, Southern Virginia will look to take the lead in the series. The first game came in 2021, where the Knights showcased a thrilling 28-21 victory, where linebacker Jason Siaosi scored the game-winning touchdown off of a 16 yard fumble recovery. The Bishops avenged their loss seven months later in November, taking the 19-10 victory.
 
Traveling to Greensboro, NC, the following week, Southern Virginia takes on Greensboro College on October 8. The Knights hold the 1-0 record over the Pride, taking the first game 31-14 in Knight Stadium back in October of 2021.
 
In the final five weeks of the season, Southern Virginia will be looking for five first-time victories against USA South opponents Maryville (Tenn.) (0-1), Belhaven (0-0), Methodist (0-1), LaGrange (0-1), and Brevard (0-5).
 
The final five matches features four rematches from last year, while introducing a first-time matchup against newly added USA South member Belhaven.
 
With a strong returning upperclassman core, paired with a confident incoming freshman unit, Southern Virginia has sights on being a strong force within the conference to make a run at the title in 2022.
