DANVILLE- Va, The Southern Virginia University wrestling team suffered a loss at the hands of conference foe Averett University 37-9. Jaden Markus, Xavier Jukes, and Morgan Peterson all picked up wins for Southern Virginia. The Cougars are currently placed second in Old Dominion Athletic Conference Standings with a 2-0 conference record. The Knights are sitting at fourth place overall in the conference with an even 1-1 record in conference.

Jaden Markus was able to get the first win of the night for Southern Virginia at 197 pounds. The Freshman was able to get the win over Jaleel Jones with a 10-4 victory. The win moves Markus to 5-4 overall.

In the 141 pound class, Xavier Jukes earned a hard fought victory over Wyatt Parker 10-8.

Morgan Peterson continued his impressive senior season with a close win over Anthony Taylor 9-6. The Knight wrestler improves his season record to an impressive (17-3) on the year.

Southern Virginia is back in action on the road this Thursday as they travel to conference opponent Shenandoah University. The Hornets are currently 2-5 overall and 0-3 in conference duals. Wrestling is set to start at 6 P.M. Southern Virginia will look to have big nights by Elijah Blackwell, Morgan Peterson, and Tyson Hoopes.
