Southern Virginia Women’s Soccer Clinches Regular Season Championship with 5-0 Victory Over William Peace

BUENA VISTA, VA – The Southern Virginia University Women's Soccer team secured a convincing 5-0 win against William Peace University in a recent match, clinching the USA South Regular Season Championship. 

In the 41st minute, Emmy Giles of Southern Virginia University, with an assist by Bailey Ricker, found the back of the net to open the scoring, taking the lead 1-0. Just two minutes later, in the 43rd minute, Ella Thomas converted a penalty kick into a goal, further extending their lead to 2-0. 

The 54th minute saw Makinna Winterton, assisted by Maybel Harris, add another goal. Continuing their offensive prowess, Winterton scored her second goal of the match in the 56th minute, assisted by Audrey McKeon, pushing the score to 4-0. Ellie Owen put the finishing touch on the match in the 62nd minute with a goal, making it 5-0. 

The Knights look forward to their final conference match before heading into the USA Tournament, taking on Meredith on Saturday, October 28th at 2 p.m.
