BUENA VISTA, VA - The Southern Virginia University football team faced a formidable challenge against Belhaven University, resulting in a 61-7 loss in Saturday's matchup at Knight Stadium.
The first quarter saw a dominant performance from Belhaven as they swiftly secured a 26-0 lead. Devin Daniels opened the scoring with a 3-yard run, followed by Kolbe Blunt's 15-yard dash and Tim Johnson's impressive 46-yard run. The quarter concluded with a 45-yard touchdown pass from Johnson to Phabian Carter.
Belhaven continued their offensive prowess in the second quarter, with Daniels adding another touchdown and Johnson showcasing his skills with a 20-yard run, extending the lead to 40-0 by halftime.
The third quarter brought more challenges for Southern Virginia as Belhaven's Johnson and Blunt added two more touchdowns, advancing the lead to an imposing 54-0.
Despite the adversity, Southern Virginia showed resilience in the fourth quarter. Domo Dwyer's 41-yard touchdown reception from Lachlan Haacke put the Knights on the scoreboard, but the deficit proved insurmountable.
