Meisenheimer, NC - The Southern Virginia University Baseball team (7-16, 0-9) took on conference opponent Pfeiffer University (6-13, 3-6) this weekend, with the Falcons sweeping the Knights in the three-game series.
Â
Pfieffer played a great series, giving up just five runs and winning all three games 8-3, 8-1 and 13-1.
The Knights started strong in the first four innings of the opening game. After advancing on an error, Mitch Smith reached home off of a single from Ty Martinez, taking the score to 2-0. In the fourth, Seth Lloyd brought in Sinjun Johnson from third to make their lead 3-0.
Even though the Knights struggled this weekend, they showed flashes of their capability. Freshman Seth Lloyd got on base with two hits and took advantage of his time there, stealing his first base in his collegiate career. Lloyd also scored a run in two contests this series while recording one RBI.
The Knights also gave their bullpen more experience on the mound, utilizing 11 different pitchers throughout the three games.
Southern Virginia continues on the road, taking on Guilford College in North Carolina on Tuesday, April 4.
