GREENSBORO, NC - The Southern Virginia Men's and Women's teams traveled to Guilford College where the women won 5-4 and the men fell 3-6 on Thursday Afternoon.
The Knights women's tennis team swept through doubles as
Paula Snelson and
Jillian Arnold took court one 8-2,
Lydia Delich and
Remly Fry took court two 8-3 and lastly
Grace Howell and
Lia Savage won on court three 8-2.
Southern Virginia looked ready to secure the win in singles when Snelson secured a 6-0, 6-1 win and Arnold with a 6-1 6-1, but the Quakers fought back winning the remaining sets however the Knights held on for a 5-4 victory.
For the men's team, the Knights got swept in the doubles but had solid bounce-back wins from
Abram Robbins who won 3-0 due to opponent retirement, and
Jeffrey Purcell who rallied back down 1-6 to take the match 6-4 and 1-0 (10-8) and lastly
Jacob Feldman with a quick 6-3, 6-2 win for a 3-6 finish.
The women's team gears up for a match on Saturday, September 30th at UVA Wise and the men's team is heading to Shenandoah University on Monday, October 9th with match time set for 3:00 PM.
