BUENA VISTA, VA – The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team delivered an impressive performance, securing a 2-0 victory against the University of Mary Washington Wednesday night.
The game's first goal came at the 31:22 mark when
Audrey McKeon of Southern Virginia University capitalized on a scoring opportunity off a brilliant cross from
Ella Thomas, placing the ball in the bottom right corner of the net.
Both teams displayed strong defensive strategies throughout the match, denying several goal-scoring attempts. Southern Virginia's goalkeeper and defensive line exhibited excellent teamwork to keep their opponents at bay.
In the game's closing moments, at 88:22, the Knights solidified their victory when
Makinna Winterton scored the team's second goal, using her strength to push her way closer to the net for an easier opportunity. The goal was set up by
Maybel Harris, who provided a well-placed assist.
The Knights look to build on the newly found momentum, taking on Ferrum College in Knight Stadium under the lights on Saturday, September 9, with the opening whistle set for 7 pm.
