WINCHESTER, Va. – The Southern Virginia University men's soccer team gave up an early goal but clawed their way back into the match, scoring a late equalizer to come away with a tie against the Penn College Wildcats
The action began just eight seconds into the game when Penn College Midfielder Logan Stapleton found the back of the net to take the lead for the Wildcats. Southern Virginia didn't let the early goal change their game plan and was able to maintain most of the possession in the next 45 minutes, creating multiple scoring opportunities from three corners.
As the game progressed, the Knights displayed their resilience and determination. It wasn't until the 73rd minute that they managed to break through the Wildcats' defense.

The goal rejuvenated the Knights and lit a fire for the remaining 17 minutes of play. They continued to attack and create chances but were unable to find a winning goal.
Southern Virginia outshot the Wildcats 12 to 7 and held an advantage in corners 8 to 2.
The Knights will return to action Saturday afternoon for the second round of the Shenandoah Tournament where Southern Virginia will face Susquehanna University with kick-off set for 7:30 p.m.
