Head Coach Tom Peterson Earns 500th Career Win as the Knights Sweep Weekend Competition

Salem, VA - The Southern Virginia men's volleyball team maintained their perfect record, securing three consecutive victories over the weekend against Wittenberg University, Lees-McRae College, and Roanoke College, all in 3-0 sweeps. Head Coach Tom Peterson celebrated his 500th career coaching win with the third triumph.

In the opening match against Wittenberg, the Knights dominated with set scores of 25-10, 25-18, and 25-18. Southern Virginia showcased a superior attacking performance, finishing at .224 compared to Wittenberg's .058. The Knights also demonstrated their prowess from the service line, pounding 13 aces while limiting Wittenberg to just two. Kristo Bianchin recorded an impressive five blocks, and Jeremy Brown led the team in kills with nine. Tyler Sheaffer, Bianchin, Christian Sheaffer, and Brown all contributed with three service aces each.

Facing Lees-McRae College on Saturday, the Knights continued their strong showing, securing another sweep with set scores of 25-14, 25-19, and 25-15. Christian Sheaffer led the charge with a game-high 13 kills, complemented by three aces and four blocks. The Knights maintained an outstanding attacking percentage of 46.1% compared to the Bobcats' 11.5%.

In the final match of the day, and a historic moment for Coach Peterson, the Knights once again swept Roanoke with decisive scores of 25-16 in all three sets. Christian Sheaffer and Jeremy Brown led the team in kills with 15 and 14, respectively, tying at 16 points each.

The Knights will look to continue their impressive performance as they return home on Friday, January 26th, facing Illinois Institute of Technology with a start time of 7:00 PM.
