Buena Vista, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team came up just short in a 2-5 loss to Roanoke College, following several hard-fought battles.
The Maroons took control in doubles play, winning all three matches in tightly contested encounters. Nate Walton and Trent McBride, at #1 doubles, fell in a close tiebreaker, 6-7. At #2 doubles, Jared Pitcher and Chase Rishel narrowly lost 4-6, while Jacob Feldman and Traejen Kingston came up just short at #3 doubles with a 3-6 defeat.
Despite the doubles setbacks, the Knights showed resilience in singles play, securing two wins. Traejen Kingston pulled off a solid 6-4, 7-5 victory at #4 singles, while Chase Rishel made a remarkable comeback at #5 singles, winning 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 after dropping the first set.
