Buena Vista, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team narrowly missed victory in a hard-fought 3-4 loss to the Randolph Wildcats.
In doubles play, the Knights came out strong, securing wins at #1 and #3 doubles. Paula Snelson and Jillian Arnold showcased excellent chemistry with a 6-4 victory over the Wildcats, while Lydia Delich and Nadia Molanphy pulled through in a tight 7-5 match, clinching the doubles point and giving the Knights a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
In singles action, the Knights continued to show resilience. Nadia Molanphy dominated at #5 singles with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win, while Lia Savage earned a hard-fought 6-2, 6-4 victory at #6 singles, extending the Knights' lead to 3-0.
However, momentum shifted as Remly Fry and Lydia Delich fell just short in their matches, narrowing the overall score to 3-2.
With the match on the line, Jillian Arnold and Paula Snelson fought valiantly, but the Wildcats managed to claim the final two victories, sealing a 3-4 defeat for the Knights.
The Knights now focus on their final match of the fall season, set for October 8th on their home courts at 3:00 p.m.
