LaGrange, GA – The Southern Virginia University football team concluded its season with a road game against LaGrange College, falling 50-24 in a hard-fought contest.
The Knights faced challenges early, with an interception on their opening drive. However, they quickly regained momentum when Jemaar Robinson recovered a fumble to put the offense back in action. Quarterback Devin Watson connected with Chase Pope for a 45-yard gain, followed by a lateral to Tyreeck Hall, who took it to the end zone for the game's first touchdown. Gage Butler's extra point gave the Knights an early 7-0 lead.
The Panthers responded swiftly, scoring on a four-play drive to tie the game at 7-7. Capitalizing on another Knights interception, LaGrange found the end zone with a 36-yard touchdown pass to take a 14-7 lead. The Panthers continued to showcase their offensive strength, scoring on a 65-yard touchdown pass on the first play of their next drive, closing the first quarter with a 20-7 advantage.
In the second quarter, the Knights showed resilience. A series of successful passes culminated in a 36-yard touchdown reception by Silvester, narrowing the deficit to 20-14. The defense stepped up with Callum Hyland forcing a fumble recovered by Kavika Bringhurst, which set up a 25-yard field goal by Gage Butler to bring the Knights within three points at 20-17. However, LaGrange answered back with two touchdowns before halftime, extending their lead to 34-17.
After the break, both teams slowed offensively. The Knights capitalized on a muffed punt early in the third quarter, gaining favorable field position. Watson connected with Jeran Paleka on a 35-yard pass, followed by a rushing touchdown from Watson himself, narrowing the score to 34-24.
LaGrange added a field goal to end the third quarter and dominated the fourth, scoring 13 unanswered points to secure the 50-24 victory.
