Buena Vista, VA - The Southern Virginia University women's basketball team returned to the court for their second game in two days to face Meredith College in the Knight Arena. After a slow start offensively, the Knights found their groove and pulled away from their opponents in the second for a 68-36 victory.

The first quarter was a defensive slugfest. Both teams had difficulty making shots, but Meredith ended the quarter with an 11-9 advantage. Southern Virginia's bench came alive in the second half and scored 13 points to help the Knights regain the lead. 

Maya Foster provided quality minutes, scoring four points and recording two blocks to boost the Knights. Despite her presence in the Knights' backcourt, Asia Canty was dominant on the offensive glass, establishing herself deep in the paint to collect four offensive rebounds to lead both teams. By the end of the half, the Knights had produced a 28-24 lead.

The Knights continued to extend their lead in the third quarter thanks to their defense. Addison Newman had five steals by the end of the third frame as the lead reached double digits. Maria Savvun began to heat up from distance and nailed a couple of threes to give her team a shooting boost.

The final quarter belonged to the Southern Virginia frontcourt. Ruth Kempler and Aysia Foster were strong in the post and were the first Knights to enter double digits in scoring. Savvun did her part in distributing the ball by posting five assists, most of which came in the second half. The win was capped off by two consecutive threes from Camilla Norton to increase their lead to over thirty points.

Southern Virginia won the turnover battle and outscored Meredith in points off turnovers, 24-3. The win moves the Knights' record to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in league play. They'll remain in Buena Vista for their next contest, their last one before Thanksgiving, on Tuesday, November 26th, when they host Stevenson.
