Fayetteville, N.C. – Southern Virginia University women's soccer team fought tenaciously in the USA South Conference Championship, ultimately falling to the #2-seeded Methodist, 0-2.
The match began with high intensity, as the Monarchs scored within the opening minute. Undeterred, the Knights rallied and dominated possession, outshooting Methodist 9-4 and leading 3-1 in corners by halftime. Despite their efforts, they couldn't capitalize on their chances before the break.
The second half mirrored the first, with Southern Virginia maintaining an offensive push even as the Monarchs extended their lead in the 56th minute. The Knights once again led the charge, outshooting the Monarchs 8-2 and holding a 5-1 edge in corner kicks but ultimately came up short, ending the match 0-2.
Despite the scoreline, the Knights showcased remarkable heart and resilience, with Hailey Gadd, Nessie Storey, Ella Thomas, and Maybel Harris playing the full 90 minutes. Southern Virginia concludes the season with pride in their accomplishments and anticipation for future opportunities to build on their success.
