Conway, SC – The Southern Virginia University men's basketball team faced a challenging matchup against Division I Coastal Carolina, falling 82-58 in an exhibition game on the road.
Coastal Carolina came out firing, showcasing a lethal three-point attack by shooting an impressive 9-for-12 from beyond the arc in the first half. Their hot shooting helped them build a lead of up to 30 points, putting the Knights on their heels early. Despite the deficit, Southern Virginia displayed resilience with 12 players seeing action and 10 contributing points on the scoreboard.
The Knights improved their play in the second half, scoring 27 points compared to Coastal Carolina's 28, highlighting their effort throughout the game.
Eli Ballstaedt led Southern Virginia with a strong performance, tallying a team-high 15 points, grabbing six rebounds, and recording two steals. However, the Knights struggled from three-point range, shooting just 1-for-16 on the night.
Southern Virginia will look to bounce back when they return home to face Randolph College on Saturday, December 14, at 7:00 PM in Knight Arena.
