Hampden-Sydney, Va. — In their second game of the week, the Southern Virginia University Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Hampden-Sydney to take on the Tigers in a non-conference matchup. Thanks to a strong first-quarter surge, the Tigers took down the Knights 24-8.
Leading the way for the Knights, freshman
Porter Wells made his presence known, having his best game of his young career, recording five points off of two goals and three assists.
Clay Haacke followed suit, tallying his first hat trick of the season, while
Tyson Mauri had a solid day with one goal and two assists.
Hampden-Sydney's defense did what they needed to do, shutting down
Gabe King and limiting his performance to one goal and the team to only 26 combined shots.
In between the pipes,
Jace Lightfoot continues doing all he can, marking his third consecutive game with double-digit saves, with 13 against the Tigers.
Southern Virginia returns to Knight Stadium on Saturday, February 24, taking on Centre College at 1 pm.
